Cable TV Ratings for Week of December 14 - 20
NBA, NFL capture viewers' interests in run-up to Christmas holiday (December
25, 2009) The weather outside was frightful in the week prior to the
Christmas holiday, causing black viewers to delay last minute shopping
and camp out in front of their favorite cable shows. The big winner was
sports, especially the premium NFL channel. Eight of the Top 25 most
watched cable programs for the third week of December were games.
TBS managed to remain the most watched cable network with 8.3 million
tuning in its block of Tyler Perry comedies. ESPN and the NFL Channel
practically tied for second with 3.57 million and 3.52 million viewers
respectively.
The total number of viewers watching the Top 25 cable shows in black
households was 26.3 million -- a six percent drop from the previous
week.
