Black TV Ratings for Week of November 2 - 8
Football, Rihanna smack down World Series for attention of black TV viewers

(November 10, 2009) The N.Y. Yankees may have won their record-setting 27th World Series with a Game Six victory, but that sports drama was watched by only two million black TV viewers last week. Nearly two million more viewers than that tuned in the NFL Sunday night game between the Dallas Cowboys and the Philadelphia Eagles. Singer Rihanna's first post-Chris Brown interview on ABC's "20/20" claimed 2.23 black watchers.

Though it couldn't claim any special sports or celebrity programs for the week, CBS held on to its title of most watched TV network, with 13 million black viewers tuning in nine of its shows on the Top 25 list. In addition to Rihanna's confessional, ABC found favor with the debut "V" and posted 11.8 million viewers across eight shows to take second place among TV networks. NBC counted 10.7 million for five of its Top 25 shows.

The total number of black viewers watching the Top 25 during the first week of November, according to Nielsen, increased 16 percent over the previous week to 40.4 million.
