Black TV Ratings for Week of Oct. 26 - Nov. 1
NY vs. Philly World Series drama gives Fox a home run with black viewers

(November 3, 2009) Maybe it's because the terrible economy has us looking for a win anywhere we can find one. Or maybe it's that two of the nation's biggest markets have teams that are drawing upon a huge fan base. Whatever the reason, baseball is enjoying record-breaking TV ratings in an age of endless media options. The World Series between New York and Philadelphia captured dominated the one through five spots on the Top 25 chart of most popular shows in black households.

Despite the popularity of the Series stealing audience from competitors, CBS still walked away with most network title again, racking up 31.1 million viewers for ten shows. Fox had moved past ABC to steal second place with 11 million viewers for its six games-related shows. ABC had 8.6 million black viewers for seven shows.

The total number of viewers watching the Top 25 favorite shows among black households, as cited by Nielsen research, was down nine percent from the previous week to 34.9 million.
