Cable TV Ratings for Week of October 13 - 19
Presidential Debate was week's big cable winner; CNN most watched network

(October 22, 2008) The third and final Presidential Debate between Senators Barack Obama and John McCain was the real winner on the Top 25 chart of most popular cable shows in black households. The Oct. 15th face-off and the post- debate analysis attracted 6.2 million black viewers to CNN and MSNBC. CNN's debate airing captured second place. ESPN's "Monday Night Football" again carried the No.1 spot on the chart.

For the first time CNN took the honors of the week's most watched cable network with 6.5 million viewers. TBS, thanks to "House of Payne," was second with 6.3 million. Nickelodeon claimed with an audience of 3.9.

The total number of viewers watching the Top 25 during the third week of October, according to Nielsen Media Research, increased by 2.4 percent over the previous week to 25.1 million.
