Cable TV Ratings for Week of October 6 - 12
Football, politics and 'Payne' top cable viewing; Disney is most watched network

(October 15, 2008) Football, politics and "Payne." That's what dominated the Top 25 cable chart in the second week of October. The NFL's Monday Night Football match-up between the Minnesota Vikings and the New Orleans Saints pulled in nearly two million black viewers to take the No.1 spot among cable shows for the week.

The second Presidential Debate between Barack Obama and John McCain -- and the analysis that followed -- boosted CNN to the second and third spots on the chart.

The honors of the week's most watched network went to TBS, which achieved the position with the 7 million viewers for six episodes of Tyler Perry's "House of Payne." CNN was second with 4.6 million viewers, followed by Disney's 3.6 million.

The total number of viewers for the Top 25 cable shows, according to Nielsen Media Research, was 24.5 million.
