Magazine Summit to bring together publishing industry’s best
Former top 'Vibe'
execs to be reunited on panel

16, 2006) Some of the industry’s best-known executives in magazine
publishing, marketing and will be among those attending the Fourth Annual
African-American Magazine Summit on November 3, 2006 in New York City.
This highly anticipated gathering is the only event that is devoted
exclusively to black magazine publishing.
The one-day conference is presented by Target Market News and sponsored by
Time Warner and the Magazine Publishers of America. It will be take place
at the Time and Life Building.
”The African-American magazine market is booming and continues to serve
readers and marketers in unique ways,” said Ken Smikle, president of
Target Market News. “This conference is an opportunity for
publishers, advertisers and other industry professionals to exchange
information and learn more about developments and new opportunities.”
Among the speakers that are confirmed for the Summit are:

'Buying Power' report shows black consumers spending more on home life
As the American economy continues to move sluggishly,
African-American households are curtailing their spending in many
categories, including food, clothing and basic household items, while
investing more in home repair, home entertainment and consumer
electronics. Although they are trimming back, black consumers are still
spending more than their white counterparts on most of these products.
