Burrell Communications Group named AOR for Ashley Stewart retail stores

(October 14, 2008) Urban Brands has selected Burrell Communications Group as the agency of record for marketing communications for its Ashley Stewart brand, effective October 1st. With more than 220 locations, from New York to Los Angeles, Ashley Stewart is an industry leader in delivering sophisticated lifestyle apparel and accessories for the fashion-conscious plus-size woman.

Over the next five to seven years Urban Brand's strategic priorities include the expansion of its portfolio of stores, the remodeling of existing stores in America's most influential fashion markets, and the leveraging of existing brand equity to accelerate long-term growth.

Burrell will oversee advertising, e-marketing and engagement marketing. The agency's first order of business will be the launch of the new Butterfly Bra inspired by Grammy-award winning artist, Jill Scott.

"After three decades honing our deep understanding of and competencies in marketing to women, we are extremely pleased to welcome Ashley Stewart as one of our newest clients," said McGhee Williams Osse, co-CEO of Burrell Communications. "This is a brand that celebrates all that is strong, confident and beautiful about women, and we look forward to adding resonance to their voice in the community."

"We are excited about this new partnership, and the consumer insights and expertise that Burrell brings to our marketing efforts," said Mark Gunn, Chief Strategic Officer, Urban Brands. "Ashley Stewart is a bold and fashion savvy brand, and Burrell's approach to marketing reflects a similar temperament and spirit."

Burrell Communications is a full-service marketing communications company with offices in Chicago, Atlanta and Los Angeles. In business for more than 30 years, Burrell is a leader in understanding and motivating consumer behavior in the African-American and Yurban(R) markets. The agency's client roster includes: Procter & Gamble, Toyota, General Mills, Walt Disney World Resorts, Allstate, Abbott, Zimmer and Lilly.
