Black TV Ratings for Week of Sept. 28 - Oct. 4
Battle for the black viewer margin tightens among the four TV networks

(October 7, 2009) The new TV season is finding favor with black households, as they begin to settle into a pattern demonstrating their prime time preferences. Old favorites, like NFL football, have little to worry about, but the networks desperately need black viewers to make their shows winners in their time slots.

Further helping their battle for ratings are new shows like NCIS: Los Angeles (CBS), The Cleveland Show (Fox) and Flash Forward (ABC). After Jay Leno's prime time debut fell form favor, NBC is still searching for a show with strong black appeal. As lead-ins, these shows are creating winning time block for the Big Four networks

The week's most watched network was again CBS which had 15.1 million black viewers for nine shows on the Top 25. Fox followed - again - in second place with 10.1 million for five shows. ABC added a million more black viewers from last week, with a total  of 9.1 million for seven shows.

The total number of viewers watching to Top 25 most popular shows in black households, according to Nielsen, inched up by 1.4 percent to 41.5 million.
