Black Cable TV Ratings for Week of September 21 - 27
Football on ESPN takes No.1 cable show; TBS remains most watched network

(September 30, 2009) Cable TV watching among black viewers has been taking a back seat in prime time to broadcast TV. For the last two weeks cable has had a significantly smaller number of Top 25 viewers than shows from the over the air networks. The usual line-up of top shows prevailed during the last week of September. Monday Night Football was No.1, followed by The Real Housewives of Atlanta.

TBS remained the most watched cable network in black households with 7.9 million watching six of its Tyler Perry-produced shows. BET came in second with 4.2 million viewers for six shows. Disney had three million tune in for three of its programs.

The total number of viewers for the Top 25 most popular cable shows in black homes, as cited by Nielsen, was 26.8 million -- a three percent increase over the previous week.
