Essence
Communications names David L. Flemister associate publisher, sales
(September 29, 2008) David L. Flemister has been named Associate
Publisher, Sales for Essence Communications Inc., it was announced today
by Essence Communications Inc. President, Michelle Ebanks, to whom he
will report. Flemister will be the key executive with responsibilities
over the group's advertising and sales functions.
"David's success in building and nurturing strategic client partnerships
and his history of working with prominent international brands will
strengthen our alliances and complement our sales goals in an
extraordinary way," says Michelle Ebanks, President of Essence
Communications Inc. "I am confident David's expertise will enable
ESSENCE to sell through our large-scale, integrated programs, which
encompass the magazine, live events, digital and, in the future,
television and radio."
Flemister had been the Vice President, Client Partnerships for Time
Warner Global Media Group, where he led the team in the development of
business opportunities designed to generate incremental revenue for the
company. As a key corporate liaison with senior division executives, he
consulted on deal structure and increased revenue across the house.
Throughout his career in advertising and sales, Flemister managed many
international brands, such as Pepsi, Wal-Mart, Toys "R" Us, Miller Beer,
Wendy's, Colgate-Palmolive and Verizon Wireless, to name a few. In
addition, he developed ethnic and multicultural programs for an array of
clients. David has dedicated his career to driving sales growth for his
clients. Notably, as Vice President at Young & Rubicam on the KFC
business, Flemister helped contribute to an impressive 8% sales growth
within a year.
Flemister received his undergraduate degree from Connecticut College
where he earned a BA in Psychology and minored in Sociology. Flemister
lives in New Rochelle, NY with his wife Sara and their two young
children.
