TV Ratings for Week of September 14 - 20 NFL, Jay
Leno make NBC most watched network among black viewers again
(September 15, 2009) NBC, which has been gaining weekly on CBS for the
title of the week's favorite network in black households, finally found
the formula for success with the combination of Monday Night Football
and the Jay Leno Show. The NFL games continues to dominate black
viewers' interests, with football taking the week's top three spots.
The peacock network owes much to Kanye West's apology appearance on
Leno, with 1.4 million tuning in. The Wednesday show was the only other
of the comedian's new nightly show that made the Top 25 most watched
list.
NBC held on to the title of most watched network for the second
consecutive week, with 14.5 million tuning in eight of its prime time
shows. CBS was second with 11 million black viewers for nine shows,
followed by ABC's 4.3 million for four shows.
The total number of black viewers for the Top 25 shows, according to
Nielsen, was 33.7 million -- just 1.6 percent fewer than the previous
week.
