Turner Patterson
signs licensing rep agreement with actress Janet Hubert (September
17, 2008) Veteran actress Janet Hubert, who starred on the first three
seasons of NBC's hit sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel Air, has inked a
licensing and merchandising representation deal with Chicago-based
branding firm, Turner Patterson.
Hubert has created a line of children's merchandise based on characters
from her to-be-released children's book and DVD animated series, J.G.
and the B.C. Kids. Created with illustrator Vincent Spencer, Hubert's
J.G. and the B.C. Kids project was designed to provide an educational
entertainment alternative to the market's current offerings for kids.
The association with Turner Patterson is intended to expand Hubert's J.G.
and the B.C. Kids brand across the retail landscape. Hubert says of the
partnering, "I'm delighted by the pairing of the J.G. brand with such an
esteemed firm as Turner Patterson. Known for their commitment to
excellence, they will undoubtedly contribute greatly to making J.G. and
the B.C. Kids the household name that I'd love for it to be."
Hubert's initial outlay will be a line of backpacks featuring the
animated J.G. characters. The backpacks debuted in Wal-Mart's Northeast
stores for back to school with tremendous success "Our goal is to
leverage the initial impact at Watmart to expand the backpacks'
placement throughout the Wal-Mart chain" said Debra Turner, CEO,
TurnerPatterson. "We are currently working to expand the brand of J.G.
merchandise to include lunch boxes, luggage, beverage containers,
apparel and accessories to launch next year."
Headquartered in Chicago, IL TurnerPatterson is a leader in the
licensing and marketing of cultural brands with practices targeting
African Americans, Asians and Latino consumers. TurnerPatterson
represents leading entertainment, corporate, not for profit and
celebrity brands as well as a select group of individual entertainers
and artists.
