"TV One Night
Only: Live from the Essence Music Festival" sets ratings record (September
3, 2009) "TV One Night Only: Live From the Essence Music Festival," the
two-hour special which aired on TV One Sunday, Aug. 30 from 8 PM and 11
PM ET, reached more than 1.3 million viewers over both telecasts, and is
now the network's highest-rated original program.
The 8 PM premiere telecast of the exclusive concert coverage also
captured the No.1 rank in primetime that night among ad-supported cable
for African-American households and African-American women 25-54. Among
African American households, the 8 PM premiere telecast posted a 5.51
rating, and the special posted a .81 rating among all television
households.
"TV One Night Only" was a two-hour musical extravaganza featuring the
best performances from the country's largest annual gathering
celebrating African-American music and culture. The TV One special is
only the second time in its 15-year-history that ESSENCE has made its
Festival performances available for television broadcast – and the first
time on cable. Hosted by actress, writer and TV host Cynthia Garrett, TV
One Night Only: Live From The Essence Music Festival captures
exhilarating performances from some of the biggest names in
entertainment that occurred over three nights on the Festival's main
stage.
Performing artists include Beyonce, Anita Baker, Robin Thicke, John
Legend, Ne-Yo, Teena Marie, En Vogue, Charlie Wilson, Salt N Pepa, and
Jazmine Sullivan.
"TV One Night Only" repeat on Friday, Sept. 4 at 10 PM and Saturday,
Sept. 19 at 9 PM (all times ET).
