TV Ratings for Week of Aug. 23 - 29 With
no black nominations, African-American TV viewers shun Emmy Awards
(August 31, 2010) For the last week of August, the viewing habits of
black audiences were fairly predictable; Football was the most popular
programming and the Emmy Awards was among the least popular. The 62nd
Emmy Awards, which had not a single black nominee, had 737,000 black
viewers -- 13 percent fewer than tuned in last year's show.
CBS dominated the Top 25 chart of most popular shows in black
households, with 13.1 million viewers tuning in 14 of its shows. ABC
ranked a distant second with 3.5 million for four programs. NBC claimed
third with three million for four shows.
The total number of viewers for the Top 25 programs, according to
Nielsen, dropped nearly nine percent from the previous week to 23.4
million.
