Black Cable TV Ratings for Week of August 17 - 23
'The Real Housewives of Atlanta' continues to challenge the 'Browns'

(August 26, 2009) The steady competition between the TBS' "Meet the Browns" and Bravo's "The Real Housewives of Atlanta" rolls on. The two cable favorites are again in the No.1 and No.2 spots respectively for the third consecutive week. Each had drops in their black audience as the last two weeks of summer draw people away from their sets.

TBS remained the most watched cable network in primetime among black households, with 7.7 million tuning in their six shows on the Top 25. In second was TNT with 3.3 million for three shows. USA was third with 2.7 million viewers for three shows.

The total number of black viewers for the 25 most popular cable shows in primetime, according to Nielsen, was 25.6 million, That's an 11 percent drop from the previous week.
