Who's Who Publishing Co. holds conference of publishers to plan further growth

(August 26, 2009) The associate publishers for Who's Who Publishing Co., creator of the largest portfolio of publications showcasing African-American professionals, gathered in Columbus, Ohio recently for a first-ever conference to plot the course of future success and brand expansion for the company. The individuals gathered represented the 25 markets in which Who's Who Publishing Co. issues the high-quality resource guides as well as the corporate staff from the company's Columbus headquarters.

The conference, titled 'Aligned for Success', comes on the heels of an executive re-alignment which positioned the company for faster growth and expansion into other communities as well as broader distribution platforms. To better align with the mission of its new parent company, Real Times Media, the re-energized Who's Who brand will continue to provide its mainstay publications but will also present premiere events and digital opportunities that will strengthen the company's connection to traditionally hard-to-reach, affluent minority markets.

The two-day 'Aligned for Success' event featured client testimonials from some of Who's Who largest supporters including:

- Alex Shumate, partner with the international law firm Squire, Sanders & Dempsey, who addressed the group about the importance of the Who's Who directories to the community at-large

- Todd Corley, vice president of diversity and inclusion for Abercrombie and & Fitch, who discussed how the publications tailor-made solutions have helped him reach his organization's diversity goals

- Jeanetta Darno, associate vice president of diversity and inclusion from Nationwide, who talked about how the unique Who's Who value proposition benefited not only her company's recruitment and retention efforts, but also served to strengthen the Nationwide insurance brand image in the African-American community

"The ideas and the energy generated from this conference were remarkable," said Cassandra Bozeman, COO of Who's Who Publishing Co., LLC. "The result of what we started to create here in Columbus today is certain to propel Who's Who to another level."

Bozeman's sentiment was echoed by Who's Who executive vice president Ernie Sullivan, who also said, "Our associate publishers are the backbone of our success and to have them all assembled in one place is extremely powerful due to the wealth of knowledge they bring and their diverse backgrounds."

Who's Who, most known for its resource guides for the African-American community will soon launch a Latino targeted publication with an inaugural issue in Columbus, Ohio.

Who's Who Publishing Co. was founded in 1989 to highlight and document the significant accomplishments and outstanding achievements of individuals in the various communities it serves. Published in more than 25 cities across the country -- including major locations such as Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles and New York City -- Who's Who publications are the essential information source for civic organizations, business leaders, non-profit organizations, and media professionals looking to network with and recruit African-American professionals.
