TV Ratings for Week of August 18 - 24
NBC's Olympics draw 16.7 million black viewers in primetime for the week

(August 26, 2008) Black viewers continued to tune into the Summer Olympics for a second week in record numbers. The games were the top winners in primetime for the entire third week of August, and they won the first eight spots on the Top 25 chart of the most popular shows.

Thanks to the overwhelming popularity of the games, NBC easily captured the title of most watched network of the week. The network attracted 16.7 million black viewers for its eight broadcasts. CBS captured second place with 10.3 million for its 11 shows. ABC, Fox and the CW each had two spots on the chart.

The total number of viewers watching the Top 25 shows, according to Nielsen, increased by two percent over the previous week to 32.2 million.
