Black TV Ratings for Week of August 17 - 23
Fox preseason NFL games crown the Top 25; CBS still unmatched as top net

(August 25, 2009) For the third week of August, actual football games were the most favored broadcast shows in black households. Fox's carriage of the NFL preseason together drew nearly 2.8 million black viewers. "60 Minutes," which was No.1 last week with its interview of Michael Vick, fell to No. 22.

CBS maintained its seemingly unshakeable hold on the title of most watched network, attracting 8.8 million black viewers for its 10 shows on the Top 25. NBC followed with six million for its seven shows. Fox was third with 5.3 million for five programs.

The total number of viewers for the Top 25 most popular shows in black households, according to Nielsen data, was 22.2 million -- just two percent fewer than the previous week.
