Cable Ratings for Week of August 13 – 19
Disney’s ‘High School Musical’ dominates black cable viewing

(August 22, 2007) In the waning days of summer, young loyal viewers of the Disney Channel are pushing the network to new heights. “High School Musical” knocked “House of Payne” from its perennial No.1 position on the top 25 to third place. “Diary of A Mad Black Woman” took second.

With 13 shows, Disney took more than half of slots on the chart to be the week’s runaway winning network. TBS claimed four shows, BET had three, while USA and ESPN posted two each.

The total number of black households watching the top 25, according to Nielsen Media Research, was 21.6 million, an remarkable 32 percent increase over the previous week.
