Ratings for Week of August 11 - 17 Olympic
broadcasts let NBC dominate Top 25; also most watched network
(August
12, 2008) NBC’s airing of the Summer Olympics has given the network
primetime dominance every night of week since the opening ceremony. The
games easily took the top seven spots on the chart of most popular
shows, delivering an average of 2.2 million per broadcast.
The title of most watched network of the week would have to go to NBC.
Its primetime audience for the games added up to 15.5 million viewers.
Second place network, CBS, had five million fewer viewers for its
programs.
Thanks to the Olympics, the total number of viewers for the Top 25 shows
grew by 16 percent over the previous week to 31.7 million.
