Black Cable TV Ratings for Week of August 11 - 17
Cable viewing for black households continues summer growth pattern

(August 19, 2009) The summer proves to be primetime for cable's appeal to black viewers looking for something different. Once again, the Top 25 cable shows have drawn a larger audience than the Top 25 broadcast programs -- this week by more than seven million viewers. TBS' "Meet the Browns" scored more than two million viewers to take the No.1 spot.

TBS again used its block of Tyler Perry-produced hits to dominate as the most watched cable network with 13.9 million viewers for its ten Top 25 shows. USA Network followed with 2.7 million viewers. BET also posted 2.7 million viewers for two of its shows on the chart.

The total number of viewers for the Top 25 most popular shows in black households, according to Nielsen, was 29 million -- that's 3.7 percent more than the previous week.
