The Week of July 30 - August 5
Thanks to 'Payne' TBS holds on to No.1; Disney rules
again as week’s top network (August
8, 2007) The only thing hotter than the week’s temperature is the
popularity of TBS’s comedy “House of Payne” with black households. Tyler
Perry’s hit again came in at the No.1 and No.3 positions, once more
separated by MYV’s “Making The Band.” BET controversial “We Gotta Do
Better” was one of three shows that network posted in the top ten.
It’s summer and that means that kids rule, even in primetime, so Disney
was the most popular network during the first week of August with nine
shows on the top 25. BET followed with five, then TBS with four.
The total number of black households watching the top 25 shows, according
to Nielsen Media Research, dropped by nearly five percent from 16.1
million to 15.3 million.
