The Week
of July 30 – August 5
'Girlfriends' leads CW’s sweeps the top of the chart’s; CBS, Fox tie for
top net (August
8, 2007) The CW was able to take advantage of the dog days of summer, when
black households tried to beat the heat with tried and true programs.
“Girlfriends” led the network’s triple crown of the week’s most popular
shows in black households by taking first, second and third place.
There was no runaway network winner for the first week of August, with CBS
and Fox tying with six shows each. The CW and ABC each had five entries,
and NBC posted three.
The total number of black households watching the top 25 shows, according
to Nielsen Media Research, was identical to the previous week’s total of
19.9 million.
