Black Cable TV Ratings for Week of July 27 - Aug. 2
It's all about the women as Real Housewives beat Tiny & Toya to take cable's No.1

(August 5, 2009) Summer cable viewing is up for grabs in black households as networks battle to change audiences habits and loyalties. BET's "Tiny & Toya" reality series had its momentum tripped up by the arrival TBS's "The Real Housewives of Atlanta," which pulled 1.4 million black viewers and took the No.1 spot.

TBS remained the most watched cable network in black homes, with the Browns and the Paynes attracting 5.6 million viewers. BET was the second most poplar cable network with 4.6 million for its five shows on the Top 25. TNT was third with 3.8 million for four shows.

The total number of viewers of the Top 25 continued its summer time decline, according to Nielsen, with 22.9 million viewers -- a 9.4 percent drop from the previous week.
