Black TV Ratings for Week of June 28 - July 4
Heat and summer reruns have black viewers channel surfing for something new

(July 7, 2010) The heat wave had folks indoors passing the time during the July 4th week with their remote control. While black viewers tuned in reruns of their favorites, they also landed on shows they ignored during the regular season. This has been good news to NBC, which didn't attract much attention from black households this past season.

CBS was the most watched network as July viewing got underway, with 9.3 million tuning in 10 of its Top 25 shows. Fox moved up from its previous week's position to second place among networks with 5.3 million for six shows. NBC claimed 4.6 million viewers for five shows.

The total number of black viewers watching the Top 25 favorites in black households, according to Nielsen, fell four percent from the previous week to 23.1 million.
