Black TV Ratings for Week of June 21 - 27
CBS' 'The Mentalist' goes from the bottom to No.1 on the Top 25

(June 29, 2010) Total TV viewing took a big plunge after the NBA Finals. Re-runs and summer activities have black viewers pursuing  other leisure interests. Those that are tuning in are devoting time to shows that aren't part of their regular viewing habits. No shift is more dramatic than that of CBS' "The Mentalist." Though it finished at the very bottom of the Top 25 favorite shows in black homes last week, it doubled the number of viewers and shot all the way to No.1 on this week's chart.

CBS regained its most watched network status, with 10.5 million watching 11 of its Top 25 shows. NBC was second with six million for six programs. Fox finished third with 4.5 million for five shows.

The total number of viewers watching the Top 25 TV shows in black households, as reported by Nielsen, was down 36 percent from the previous week to 24.3 million.
