Black TV Ratings for Week of June 7 - 13
NBA Finals' black record-setting audience still at 30% and growing

(June 15, 2010) Just as they have done for years, black households continue to drive the ratings success of the NBA Finals. The ABC network's biggest ratings winners for the second week of June were the L.A. Lakers - Boston Celtics match-ups. One third of the total audience of 18 to 15 million per game was black viewers. The biggest black audience for a Finals game last season was 5.01 million. Game five this year exceed that by nearly a half million more watchers.

ABC was again the beneficiary of the basketball bonus, pulling in 24.1 million black viewers for nine NBA-related programs on the Top 25. CBS did better in the second week than it did in the first week of June by notching 11.3 million viewers for 11 of its top shows, making it the second most watched network of the week. Fox barely made a showing with 2.9 million for three programs.

According to Nielsen data, the total number of viewers for the Top 25 favorite shows in black households was 40.5 million. Thanks to basketball lovers, that's an increase of 40 percent over the previous week.
