Black TV Ratings for Week of May 24 - 30
Black viewers give 'American Idol' a lift for season finale to No.2 on Top 25

(June 2, 2010) There were enough curious viewers among black households -- apparently wanting to see Simon Cowell's final appearance -- to lift the Wednesday season finale of "American Idol" to the second most watched show for the last week of May. "Dancing With the Stars" barely edged out "Idol" for the top spot.

CBS continued to get stronger as the summer approaches. The network added yet another million viewers for its programs on the Top 25 above the million it added the previous week. It posted 14.2 million black viewers for 13 of its shows to be far and away the most watched net of the week. Fox dropped more than 2 million black viewers for its top shows and finished second with 6.7 for 5 of its show. ABC was third with 6.1 million for 5 of shows.

According to Nielsen data, the total number of viewers for the Top 25 shows in black homes fell 9.2 percent to 28.8 million.
