Cable TV
Ratings for Week of May 19 - 25
Viewers can't get enough NBA playoffs, and TNT again dominates top 25
(May
29, 2008) Basketball fans turned to cable for the love of the game, making
the NBA Playoffs the dominate favorite among the top 25 shows with black
viewers. Usual top five shows like "House of Payne" and "Flavor of Love"
got bumped further down the chart.
Eleven on the top 25 cable shows were NBA related. Most interesting is the
fact that the most watched game (Charlotte Hornets vs. San Antonio Spurs)
was one between two cities with smaller black populations.
TBS was the most watched network with eight games on the chart. TBS and
USA tied for second with four each. ESPN and VH1 both claimed three shows.
The total number of viewers for the top 25 shows, according to Nielsen,
was 31.7 million, a 12 percent increase over the previous week.
