Black Cable TV Ratings for Week of May 18 - 24
It's repeat the past week for NBA on cable; Playoffs make TNT top network

(May 28, 2009) Basketball rules during the NBA Playoffs, and cable is its prime beneficiary. The first six spots on the Top 25 cable shows were all b-ball match-ups. Black households continue to set viewing records, with the Cleveland Cavaliers and Orlando Magic game becoming the second game to pull more than three million viewers. [The game was also the No.1 cable show in white households].

TNT was easily the most watched cable network in black households, thanks to the NBA. The channel's 11 shows on the Top 25 claimed 15.4 million viewers. ESPN -- which shared Playoff broadcasts -- came in second with 7.4 million black viewers. TBS rode "House of Payne" to third place with 5.7 million viewers.

The total number of viewers for the Top 25 favorite cable shows, according to Nielsen, was 33 million. That's 32 percent higher than the previous week's total.
