Black Cable TV Ratings for Week of May 17 - 23
NBA Playoffs semi finals draw black viewers back to the games on cable

(May 26, 2010) The appeal of the NBA Playoffs got back to expectations last week as the Eastern and Western Conference Finals brought back the drama for viewers. Though the black audiences for the NBA Conference Semi Finals were higher last year, ratings did improve over the previous week.

TNT attracted 11.7 million black viewers for seven of the match-ups it aired, thus taking the title of most watched cable network for the week. However, it wasn't quite as good as the 15.4 million it had for the same week last year. TBS took second place among the networks with 7.9 million tuning in to six episodes of House of Payne and Meet the Browns. ESPN carried found NBA games and they posted a total of 7.4 million watchers.

According to Nielsen, the total number of viewers for the Top 25 cable shows in black households was 36.2 million, or five percent more than the week before.
