Cable TV Ratings for Week of May 12 - 18
Basketball rules as NBA playoffs slam dunk week's top 25 cable shows
 
(May 21, 2008) Ratings for the NBA Playoffs are setting record increases over last season, and black household viewing is leading the way. There was an increase of more than 600,000 viewers for the top-rated game when compared to last year's playoffs. Ten of the top 25 favorites shows with black viewers during the first third week of May were basketball related. Overall, black households were one-third of the audience for the games.

All this benefited TNT, which claimed eight shows on the top 25. TBS followed with five. ESPN and Disney posted three each.

According to Nielsen, the total number of viewers watching the top 25 cable shows was 29.3 million, or a virtual tie with last week's total.
