Ratings for Week of May 5 - 11
NBA Playoffs still dominate cable viewing; TNT remains top network
(May
15, 2008) The NBA rules during the playoffs, and at least two networks
couldn't be happier that the wave of popularity comes during the May
sweeps cycle. Ten of the top 25 cable shows for black households were
basketball-related. Still, "House of Payne" placed two of its four airings
in the top ten. The top-rated match-up was the Hornets and Spurs game.
[That contest finished No.2 in white homes, following USA's Raiders of the
Lost Ark]
The most watched network during the b-ball loaded second week of May was
TNT, which had eight spots on the list. USA and TBS tied for second with
four shows each. BET was third with three.
The total number of viewers watching the top 25 cable shows was 29.5
million, an increase of six percent over the previous week's total.
