Black Cable TV Ratings for Week of May 3 - 9
NBA Playoffs get ratings winners at beginning of second round

(May 12, 2010) The Basketball Jones continued in black households as the second round of the NBA Playoffs began last week, and cable's TNT and ESPN maintained the popularity the games had last year. The No.1 cable show last week was the Boston Celtics' 18-point win over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Monday, May 3. The game attracted a total audience of 5.5 million, 40 percent of whom were black viewers.

TNT was easily the week's most viewed Top 25 cable network, with 13.3 million watching eight shows. TBS followed in second place with 7.9 million watchers for five programs. BET was third with 4.9 million for five shows.

According to Nielsen data, the total number of viewers watching the Top 25 cable shows was 34.3 million, 2.9 percent more than the previous week.
