Black TV Ratings for Week of May 3 - 9
NBA Playoffs give ABC rare win as most watched network in black homes

(May 11, 2010) The L.A. Lakers' last second, one point win over the Utah Jazz gave the NBA game the anticipated drama to deliver ABC a major ratings victory. The Game 3 match-up also gave the network a rare victory over CBS as the week's most watched network in black households. Remarkably, however, the primetime Playoff game wasn't listed among the top 20 programs for the week for white households.

Also unusual for the week was the failure of "American Idol" to make at least the third spot on the Top 25, with the Fox staple falling behind CBS' "NCIS: Los Angeles" and "The Good Wife" for the first time.

The battle for most watched network was itself a buzzer beater with ABC's 11.7 million black viewers inching out CBS by just 400,000. CBS claimed 11.3 million watchers and Fox finished third with 7.8 million.

According to Nielsen, the total number of viewers for the Top 25 favorite shows in black homes was 31.9 million. That number is just one half of one percent different from the previous week.
