Nielsen names Patricia Andrews-Keenan VP Communications, Community Affairs

(May 4, 2007) Veteran communications executive Patricia Andrews-Keenan has joined The Nielsen Company as Vice President, Communications and Community Affairs. She previously served as Vice President of Community Affairs for Comcast's Greater Chicago Region.

Based in Chicago, Andrews-Keenan responsibilities at Nielsen include advertising, government relations, community outreach, education, and philanthropic initiatives. She also will be instrumental in helping Nielsen achieve its diversity goals, and the continued successful implementation of Nielsen's Local People Meter services in major markets across the US. Andrews-Keenan reports to Jack Loftus, Senior Vice President and Chief Communications Officer for The Nielsen Company.

Andrews-Keenan brings more than 20 years of communications and community affairs experience in the telecommunications industry to the position.

In her new role at Nielsen, Andrews-Keenan will further strengthen the company's communications and community affairs efforts by developing and fostering relations with key local and national organizations, government officials and community leaders.

"Nielsen is delighted to have someone of Patricia's extensive background join our team," said Susan Whiting, President and Chief Executive officer of Nielsen Media Research, and Executive Vice President of The Nielsen Company. "Pat brings a strong track record in communications, community affairs and leadership skills, and I am pleased to welcome her to Nielsen."

Andrews-Keenan earned a BA in Journalism from Grambling State University in Louisiana. She is also a graduate of the Executive Leadership Development Program at UCLA's Anderson School. She has held increasingly responsible positions with several multiple system operators (MSO's) in the cable industry in Chicago.

She serves on the board of directors of the Chicago Children's Choir and the National Association for Multi-Ethnicity in Communications (NAMIC) where she was a past national president. She has formerly served on the boards of the Quad County Urban League, Volunteers of America, Naperville Chamber of Commerce and DuPage County Girl Scouts. She has received numerous awards for her community relations work, including a Silver Anvil from the Public Relations Society of America and several Beacon Awards from the Association of Cable Communicators (ACC).
