Cable TV
Ratings for Week of April 21 - 27
'Payne' shares the cable spotlight with cable fans' love of NBA Playoffs
(April
29, 2008) What's the other competition on TV that is as popular with
black households as "American Idol?" The NBA Playoffs are back and the
games are averaging 20 percent above the number of black viewers for the
same period last year.
Tyler Perry's "House of Payne," which is about to mark its first
anniversary, still has a solid command over the No.1 and 2 positions on
the top 25 cable shows chart.
TNT, home for most of the NBA games, was the most watched cable network
during the last week of April, with eight shows on the chart. TBS had
four, followed by a three-way tie for third between BET, ESPN and USA
which had three each.
The total number of viewers for all of the top 25 cable shows, according
to the Nielsen Company, was 29.4 million, which represents an increase of
22 percent over the previous week.
