The
Week of April 16 – 22 BET’s ‘College
Hill’ grabs top cable spot; Disney was week’s top network (April
23, 2007) After hovering for weeks near the top of most popular cable
shows chart, BET’s “College Hill” reality drama took the number one spot
in the third week of April. BET claimed five of the chart’s top shows
which made it the second most popular network.
However, it was the younger members of black households that had control
over primetime viewing, and that gave Disney the network advantage. With
ten shows on the chart, Disney was the week’s winning network. Following
BET were USA and VH1, each of which posted three shows on the list.
The total number of black homes watching the top 25, according to Nielsen
data, was 16.7 million, a drop of two percent over the previous week’s
total.
