Black Cable TV Ratings for Week of April 19 - 25
Black viewers' love of NBA Playoffs gives TNT reign over Top 25 cable chart

(April 28, 2010) The first round of the NBA Playoffs games were gave TNT a winning week on the Top 25 cable chart. The network owes the success of the playoffs to the interest of black viewers, since they didn't rank that high on the ratings of all households.

The highest rated game was the match-up between the L.A. Lakers and the Oklahoma City Thunder, which drew a total of 4/2 million viewers. Of that total, 1.9 million were black viewers.

TNT's 11.2 million watchers for seven NBA games on the Top 25 chart. In second place was the usual winner, TBS, which had 9.0 million viewers for six of its chart shows. Third place went to BET for its 4.9 million viewers of five shows.

The total number watching the Top 25 cable shows in black households, as reported by Nielsen, was 32.9 million, or 8.2 percent more than the previous week.
