Black Cable TV Ratings for Week of April 11 - 17
NBA Playoffs on TNT, ESPN take over cable viewing in black households

(April 20, 2011) Basketball gripped black homes again as round one of the NBA Playoffs got underway. This year, the games found much increased popularity, taking the No.1 - 4 positions on the Top 25 cable shows chart for the second week of April. Last year, the NBA took a back seat to Tyler Perry's House of Payne. This time around NBA programming attracted 10.5 million black viewers.

Thanks to the NBA, TNT grabbed the title of the most watched cable network, with 7.4 million tuning in four games. BET was second with 6.1 million watching six of its programs. Disney had a strong third place finish with 5.1 million viewers for five of its shows.

The total number of viewers for the Top 25 programs, according to Nielsen, was 31.8 million. That represents a big 17 percent increase over the previous week.
