Equals Three ad agency marks 25th year with launch of youth foundation

(April 11, 2008) Equals Three Communications, one of the nation's leading African American-owned ad agencies, recently marked its 25th anniversary with 100 friends, clients and staff at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Guests were treated to a dinner reception followed by a performance of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater.

During the reception Equals Three Chairman & CEO Eugene M. Faison, Jr. spoke about the agency's efforts to position itself in response to issues affecting the local, regional and world communities. In keeping with the spirit and philosophy of the agency, Faison announced the launch of the Equals Three Communications Foundation.

"The foundation is designed to support the change-makers of the next generation in the U.S. and around the globe," said Faison. "Equals Three is committing one percent of our profit each year to the Foundation and we will grant organizations and dynamic individuals that are supporting young people with resources to help them succeed."

The Equals Three Foundation aims to build capacity for youth that will change their lives, improve their communities, and create opportunities to communicate the added value of initiatives in the areas of:

* Advancing arts and culture
* Developing enterprises and livelihoods
* Innovating technology and medical sciences

The Washington, D.C. Commission on the Arts and Humanities endorsed the creation of the foundation at the event.  "We are moving into an age that values workers with inventive, empathic, big picture capabilities and skills." said the Commission's executive director Anthony Gittens. "Workers with imagination capable of creative and critical thinking are in demand. Our young people have to be ready for these new jobs. For 25 years, Equals Three has been on the cutting edge of what is happening in this arena and the establishment of the Equals Three Foundation is an apt illustration of the agency's understanding of global priorities and the creative economy."

As the foundation is dedicated to providing entrepreneurial and creative opportunities for youth, Equals Three hosted 25 deserving elementary school students from the Washington metropolitan area to experience the magic and excitement of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater performance.

Based in Bethesda, Maryland, Equals Three Communications, is an award-winning agency with expertise in developing successful social marketing communications campaigns for government agencies, domestic & international clients, nonprofits, and the private sector. As a full-service agency, it offers research and strategic planning, creative services, advertising, marketing & branding, public relations, health and science writing and a specialization in multicultural outreach. For more information visit www.equals3.com.
