TV Ratings for Week of February 22 - 28 NBC can't
shake black viewers' loyalty to CBS, Fox with Olympics (March 2,
2010) While the Winter Olympics were an overwhelming ratings success for
NBC, the games did not gain the network any new fans among black
households. All seven of the week's nightly Olympics broadcasts made it
to the top ten of most popular programs in white households, but only
Tuesday's airing made in on to the black Top 25 chart -- and just
barely.
Fox scored the trifecta with The NAACP Image Awards finishing third with
an audience of 1.8 million behind the ever popular American Idol. That's
a 29% drop in audience from last year's total of 2.7 million.
The most watched network title went to Fox, which toppled CBS's reign by
delivering 15.5 million black viewers for ten shows. CBS was second with
13.8 million for 12 of its programs. ABC was a very distant third with
only 1.6 million for two shows.
The total number of viewers watching the Top 25 most popular shows in
black households, according to Nielsen, was 32 million -- less than one
percentage point different than the previous week.
