Steve Hegwood resigns
Radio One Atlanta post to focus on his own firm
27, 2009) Fifteen months after being promoted by Radio One to Operations
Manager in Atlanta, veteran programmer Steve Hegwood has announced his
resignation from the post.
A statement from Radio One said: "Steve has decided to focus his
attention on growing the stations he currently owns and expanding his
group. All of us in Atlanta and Radio One as a whole wish him nothing
but the best", said Tim Davies, VP/ General Manager.
"The position is now been posted at
www.radio-one.com\careers. Radio One Atlanta is actively seeking the
best programmer and operations manager to lead our team and grow our
strong cluster of stations and on-line content."
In his own statement, Hegwood said:
"I have resigned my position at Radio One Atlanta as Operations Manager
of WPZE, WAMJ/WUMJ and Program Director for WHTA Hot 107.9.
"I have decided to focus full time on Hegwood Media LLC. We will acquire
and operate medium and small market radio stations in the Southeast. In
addition I will consult Independent companies, My first client is Murray
Broadcasting, (Chris Murray) owned WFXM in Macon,GA (Power 107.1).
"I would truly like to thank Cathy Hughes, Alfred Liggins , Michele
Williams and Bruce Demps for the opportunity with be apart of Radio One
for a second term, It has been a very rewarding experience. May God
