Black TV Ratings for Week of February 15 - 21 Winter
Olympic games are must-see TV for everyone except black viewers (February
23, 2010) It seems that the Winter Olympics are among the favorite TV
fare for everyone except black households. The games from Vancouver were
the top four programs in white homes last week, and six of the week's
seven Olympic TV broadcasts were on the Top 25 for Hispanic viewers.
Last Wednesday night's broadcast was the only time during the entire
week that the games were among black viewers favorite shows -- and that
includes cable viewing. Has NBC done enough to promote the stories of
black athletes in the games to African-American viewers?
CBS' lineup continued to draw the most black viewers for the week, with
13.7 million tuning in 11 of the network's programs. Fox was the second
most watched network, posting 11.7 million viewers for eight shows. ABC
claimed 5.3 million viewers for five shows.
The total audience for the Top 25, according to Nielsen, was down 12.9
percent from the previous week to 31.8 million.
