Black TV Ratings for Week of January 18 - 24
Fox network rides playoff football, 'Idol' to season's biggest ratings week

(January 26, 2010) The Top 25 favorite shows in black households for the third week of January looked a lot like the week before. Football, American Idol, and CSI took the leading spots -- except the NFL was on not on CBS but Fox. And it wasn't just any football game. It was the final prime time match-up before Super Bowl on Feb. 7, and those addicted to the gridiron numbered almost seven million just in black homes alone.

With the first through fourth spots on the Top 25 leading the way, Fox claimed the title of most watched TV network in black homes. It had 22.9 million viewers for eight of its programs on the chart. CBS posted 15.4 million viewers for 12 shows. ABC had 5.6 million for five favorites.

The total number of viewers for the Top 25 favorite shows in black homes, as cited by Nielsen, was up slightly by two percent to 44 million.
