FCC to hold
minority radio and broadband workshop on Tuesday, Jan. 26
(January 21, 2010) The FCC will hold a workshop on Tuesday, Jan. 26th
entitled "Broadband and New Media Strategies for Minority Radio."
Scheduled to participate Sirius XM and public radio host Mario
Armstrong, Spanish Broadcasting System Radio Chief Revenue Officer and
SBS GM Frank Flores, NABOB Exec. Director Jim Winston, and All American
Management Group President/CEO Zemira Jones. Representing U.S.
government agencies will be FCC Office of Communications Business
Opportunities Sr. Deputy Director Carolyn Fleming and Department of
Commerce Acting Chief of Staff Rick Wade.
The workshop will explore ways broadband technology can support minority
radio. Panelists will discuss how broadband could expand the lightening
base, barriers to the use of broadband by minority radio, and the best
business models for broadband and minority radio.
The workshop is set for 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the FCC Commission Room,
and is open to the public. It will be available for online viewing for
