Black TV Ratings for Week of January 11 - 17 CBS
overwhelms competition with biggest week on Top 25 of the season (January
20, 2010) Thanks to the NFL's divisional playoff game between the
Baltimore Ravens and Indianapolis Colts, CBS crushed the Fox juggernaut,
American Idol to capture the first and second place spots among the Top
25 TV shows in black households. That was just the beginning of CBS'
assault during the second full week of the new year.
CBS gave new meaning to its long reign as the most watched TV network.
It had a 72 percent increase among black viewers from the previous week,
with a whopping 26.7 million of them tuning in 14 shows on the Top 25.
Fox had an impressive increase as well, with 15.2 million viewers tuning
in eight of the its chart-making programs. ABC had two of the three
remaining slots and a total of just 2.4 million black viewers.
The total number of black viewers watching the Top 25 was about the same
as the previous week. Nielsen data showed just a one percent drop from
the previous week to 45.1 million.
