Black TV Ratings for Week of January 4 - 10 Football,
cold weather heat up black viewer ratings for all networks (January
13, 2010) The frigid climate conditions for the first week of January
were near perfect -- if you own a TV broadcasting network. There was
plenty of football action on the airwaves to persuade black households
to stay indoors, and three of the four major networks had games on in
prime time. However, while only seven of the Top 25 shows were
gridiron-related, evening schedule benefited from the increased viewing
generally.
CBS had perhaps its best week's of the season, with 15.5 million black
viewers tuning in 11 of its Top 25 winners. Fox had the second largest
audience, with 11.7 million watching six of its most popular shows. NBC
did almost equally as well, with 11.2 million watchers for four
programs. ABC notched 7.8 million for five shows on the chart.
The total number of viewers for the most the 25 most popular shows in
black households, according to Nielsen ratings, was 46.3 million, or 28
percent more than watched the previous week.
