Black TV Ratings for Week of December 21 - 27
Christmas holiday delivers gift of a million  viewers to CBS network

(January 4, 2009) With more folks home for the holidays, TV viewing during the week of Christmas saw a big boost in black viewers for their favorite programs. While audience for the Top 25 shows was down 13 percent from the previous week, NBC's Sunday Night Football had a half million more watchers than the previous week.

As networks go, CBS saw an increase of a million more black viewers to 16.3 million for 13 shows. Second place went to NBC, which posted 8.6 million for five programs -- or two million more than previous week. Fox's holiday audience was cut in half from a week before to 4.7 million for four shows.

The total number watching the Top 25 shows in black households, according to Nielsen, was down 13 percent to 32.2 million.
