Black
Cable TV Ratings for Week of December 21 - 27
Christmas week viewing rewards Tyler Perry and The First 48 (January
2, 2010) There were few changes from the previous week in what black
households watched as they prepared for the holidays. Viewing before and
after Christmas did benefit some more than others. A&E's Christmas Eve
marathon of The First 48 attracted nearly a quarter of a million black
viewers for the three-hour block.
The most watched cable network of the fourth week of December was -- as
usual -- TBS, which pulled in 9.1 million black viewers for its Tyler
Perry block of comedies. USA came in second with 3.7 million for four
shows. ESPN was third with 3.6 million for three sportscasts.
The total number of viewers for the Top 25 shows in black homes,
according to Nielsen, was 25.7 million. That's just 1.9 percent fewer
than watched in the previous week.
[Please note: Ratings for the Top 25 for Broadcast TV for Dec. 20-27
will be posted on Tuesday, Jan 5]
